The success of Fox News has had such a wide impact on the media industry that its value was praised in the earnings report of a completely different company.
Earlier this week, the Fox Corporation held an earnings call for the fourth quarter of its fiscal year 2026. During this call, CEO Lachlan Murdoch said that Fox News “remained the leader in live news” and reinforced “its leadership position with market share levels well ahead of all of its competitors combined.”
“This robust audience engagement combined, with the addition of another 400 new advertisers to the platform during the year, helped drive record revenue of Fox News Media in both the fourth quarter and the fiscal year,” Murdoch continued.
On Wednesday, Fox also got a surprising shout-out on the earnings call for Fubo, the sports streaming service. FuboTV CEO Alisa Bowen revealed on the call that Fox News has been especially beneficial as an add-on package, saying:
We’re really happy with the range of packages that we have and the optionality that’s giving us to lean into the market at different moments in both the sports calendar and in our business cycle as well. So I think the Sports package is one part of that. And given what I said in the prepared remarks about pricing and packaging, I think that is an advantage we have and something that we’re really happy with. Our package competes with a YouTube TV Sports package, obviously, but there are differences between each of these. And for example, the FOX News component in our Sports package is something that’s particularly valued by our subscriber base and is working well for us.
Fox’s cable news dominance is unchallenged at this point. According to the latest batch of data from Nielsen, Fox News averaged more daily primetime viewers in July than both CNN and MS NOW combined.
