The Baltimore Ravens are letting out a big sigh of relief following their latest training camp practice. Pro Bowl wide receiver Zay Flowers limped off the field after suffering a left leg injury, according to Jamison Hensley of ESPN.
Flowers reportedly collided with safety Jaylinn Hawkins over the middle of the field during a 7-on-7 drill and had trouble getting up, but Ravens head coach Jesse Minter has since shared some good news regarding Flowers’ injury.
Flowers only suffered a quad contusion and will now be day to day, per ESPN insider Adam Schefter.
All in all, that is certainly good news, especially after the Ravens just signed Flowers to a massive four-year, $140 million contract extension that includes $108 million guaranteed.
The deal ties Flowers with Minnesota Vikings Justin Jefferson as the fourth-highest paid wide receivers in the league with a per-year average of $35 million. The only receivers making more on a per-year basis are Seattle Seahawks Jaxon Smith-Njiba ($42.15 million), Cincinnati Bengals Ja’Marr Chase ($40.25 million) and Atlanta Falcons Drake London ($35.25 million).
That proves Flowers is going to continue playing a very important role in the Ravens offense just as he already has. He has improved his production every year of his NFL career, recording a career-high 86 catches for 1,211 yards and five touchdowns in 2025.
Flowers now has much higher expectations as one of the highest-paid players at his position, though. And the only way to live up to those, is by staying healthy. Luckily, he seems to have avoided anything serious.
The Ravens selected Flowers with the No. 22 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Boston College. Since then, he has recorded 237 receptions for 3,128 yards and 14 touchdowns.
