Marcy Kaptur Injured in Hit-And-Run Car Wreck

Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) has been hospitalized after being involved in a hit-and-run crash, according to multiple reports.

Toledo Blade politics reporter Alice Momany posted a photo of the congresswoman’s car, with its entire front end smashed.

“Rep. Marcy Kaptur has been hospitalized after being involved in a hit-and-run crash Sunday morning, sources close to the congressman said,” Momany wrote. “Police do not consider the injuries to be life-threatening.”

A statement on Kaptur’s social media account read:

This morning Congresswoman Kaptur was a passenger in a vehicle on her way to a church service when the car she was traveling in was struck. She is active, alert, and being treated for non-life threatening injuries. We look forward to additional information from Toledo Police as they investigate the accident. Congresswoman Kaptur is thankful for the quick actions of first responders from Toledo Police and Fire Departments who arrived promptly on scene, and the medical professionals helping to take care of those involved in the crash. She expressed her deep gratitude to the hundreds of constituents who have reached out and looks forward to returning to a full schedule soon.

Toledo Police told Fox News Digital the crash  happened at about 10:48 a.m. ET at the intersection of North Detroit and Central avenues in Toledo.

A second person involved in the crash was taken to a nearby hospital, and is expected to survive their injuries.

Police said the investigation is still in its early stages, and was unclear if any suspects have been identified.
