Renowned CNN Politics analyst Harry Enten has shared a worrying assessment of polling numbers for Donald Trump and the Republican Party ahead of the upcoming midterm election in November. The data guru discussed the significant increase in Democratic turnout in this year’s primary contests in a recent interview, before painting a problematic picture for Trump’s administration.

During his recent appearance on The Source with Kaitlan Collins, Harry Enten noted that the “absolutely bonkers huge” turnout of Democratic voters in this year’s primaries so far could be a point of concern for the president.
The former FiveThirtyEight analyst revealed that over 25 million Democrat voters have shown up in primary elections so far, which has already eclipsed the 23 million roll-out in 2018.
“Democrats are already running ahead of where they were in 2018, which was a year in which they did extremely well in the House races—not nearly as well in the Senate races, but that map was tilted against them in a way that this year’s, simply put, is not,” Enten said, as per The Daily Beast.
He then explained how he would react to the polling numbers if he were part of Donald Trump’s team. “I’m running scared,” the journalist remarked. “You know, look, the numbers don’t lie. I tell it like it is. Whatever the numbers say, that’s where I go.”
Enten continued, “You see that turnout’s high so far on the Democratic side. That to me is emblematic of a president of the United States who is deeply underwater.” The CNN veteran also revealed that statistically, the party with the higher primary turnout has won over the House of Representatives every time since 2006.
At the time of writing, Republicans have a slight edge over the Democrats in the House, as well as the Senate, leading their counterparts with 219-212 and 53-47 seats, respectively.
