Breach Is The Alien Crossover We Never Knew We Needed

The Fallout franchise actually has a long and storied history of interaction with the extra-terrestrial, so much so that they’re actually now a pretty iconic part of the lore. It all starts in the original game, where an Easter egg where players can discover a downed UFO and the remains of dead alien pilots, as well as the powerful Alien Blaster weapon.

They have returned in just about every major release since (in varying capacities), even starring in their own dedicated DLC for Fallout 3, which many understandably feel is the worst of the bunch. As such, a new download that draws inspiration from one of the biggest franchises in the history of the genre, actually isn’t as farfetched as it seems.

Over on Nexus Mods, you should be able to find the download page for BREACH, a horror quest mod that takes players to a long abandoned underwater facility. In the developer’s own words, the mod is “heavily inspired by the Aliens franchise,” and its easy to see the influences of the legendary film series in the overall aesthetic.

Taking place in ATLAS Laboratories, this narrative dungeon comes with new monsters for players to take on, and new secrets for them to uncover. The full list of features included in the mod are as follows:

• Explore an abandoned underwater facility.
• Fight through new enemies and find a way to escape.
• The Pulse Rifle (an assault rifle homage to the iconic M41a Pulse Rifle first seen in ‘Aliens’) with a handy unique for those that can find it.
• A unique explosive heavy weapon that I won’t spoil here.
• Assorted custom armours, consumables and a trophy decoration to grace your settlement should you survive.

In even better news, the download is not part of the Creation Club, so it’s also entirely free to download and no risk is attached to trying it out for yourself. The only real caveat is that it requires the Automatron, Far Harbor and Nuka World DLC, and there are a bunch of suggested additional mods that help to increase immersion and make the whole thing look better.

Happily for Fallout fans, there are plenty of exciting projects on the way that should make the next few years really exciting. All we have to do is wait for them, which makes projects like the one above our best bet for having some fun in the post-apocalypse in the meantime.
