The Ahsoka season 2 release date has been revealed, along with the first trailer.
Season 1 of the live-action Star Wars show was released in 2023, following Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) as she investigates the threat of Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) and his potential return. Through both the World Between Worlds and as a Force ghost, Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) appears in the series as well, and was previously confirmed to be returning for the long-awaited second season, which was confirmed to debut in early 2027.
Now, at D23’s Disney Entertainment Showcase, where ScreenRant is in attendance, it has been revealed that Ahsoka season 2 will debut on January 20, 2027, with Christensen there to reveal the news alongside Dawson, Ezra Bridger actor Eman Esfandi, and Lucasfilm president and series creator Dave Filoni. The first trailer was also released, featuring the returns of Ahsoka, Thrawn, Anakin, and Ezra. Check out the trailer below:
During the panel, Dawson added that “the threat of Thrawn looms large over the galaxy” while Christensen explained that “Anakin continues to advise Ahsoka. He challenges her and pushes her to answer the most important question in her life — Are you or are you not a Jedi?” As for Ezra, Esfandi teased that “Ezra is reunited with his Rebels family, and is now fighting for the New Republic against the Imperial Remnant.”
Ahsoka season 2 kicks off the 50th anniversary of Star Wars, with several major releases to follow later in the year. The original movie is returning to theaters for a limited time on February 19, Ryan Gosling and Shawn Levy’s Starfighter comes to theaters on May 27, and Maul — Shadow Lord season 2 is expected to be released this year as well. On the publishing side of things, the novel Twin Crossroads by Beth Revis will be published on April 6, featuring the story of Leia Organa’s Jedi training with her brother, Luke Skywalker.
The return of Ahsoka is also notable as the franchise’s first live-action series in nearly two years, as the last one was Andor season 2, which released episodes in April and May 2025. No other live-action shows have been announced yet, making it unclear what may come next in this medium. There is also the lingering question of the larger New Republic and Imperial Remnant story, and how it will continue after Ahsoka season 2.
