Accused killer Luigi Mangione pleaded guilty to federal stalking charges at an emergency hearing Friday in Manhattan Federal Court, according to Fox News.
Mangione, 28, is facing life in prison after the Dec. 4, 2024 assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on a New York sidewalk in the early morning hours.
The hoodie-clad killer was caught on video stalking up behind Thompson, 50, as the ceo headed to the New York Hilton Midtown alone, without security, to the company’s annual investor conference.
Thompson’s relatives, including his widow, were on hand Friday in the courtroom, according to reports.
Mangione was arrested at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania after a five-day manhunt. Authoritis said he had a ghost gun, a suppressor, and a manifesto that railed against the health insurance industry.
A judge earlier in the case dismissed the most serious of the federal charges against the suspect, taking the death penalty off the table. Mangione had previously pleaded not guilty.
