Lizzo gave fans (and critics) plenty to talk about after posting a skimpy bikini post in honor of “Fat Liberation Month.” In the caption, the Grammy winner called on “my ladies over 200,” asking them to “go outside n POP sumthin.”
The single-image Instagram post collected more than 50,000 likes, with the comment section turning into a debate over both Lizzo’s figure and the celebration itself.
August is recognized as “Fat Liberation Month,” a campaign launched by the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance (NAAFA) in 2021 to promote public education, challenge size discrimination, and celebrate body diversity.
Lizzo’s bikini post showed her poolside in a purple bikini, with her blonde curls flowing down her back and dark sunglasses covering her eyes. Tilting her face toward the sun, she shifted one hip as the turquoise water created a vibrant backdrop.
Her bikini, which seemed a size too small, featured a triangle top that barely contained her bust, spilling her curves from every angle. The matching tie-side bottoms sat low, leaving her entire midsection on full display.

BBW, short for “Big Beautiful Woman,” is a term that some people proudly use to describe plus-size women. Judging by Lizzo’s caption and how she shows up online, she appears more interested in owning the conversation than running from it.
