Ryan Thomas shed light on his relationship with fiancée Lucy Mecklenburgh, revealing they sleep in separate beds
Ryan Thomas and Lucy Mecklenburgh have been dating for nearly 10 years
Ryan Thomas has left his brothers baffled after revealing that he and fiancée Lucy Mecklenburgh sleep in separate beds – and spend their evenings relaxing in different rooms.
The former Coronation Street actor, 42, started dating the TOWIE star, 34, in 2017, and they have gone on to welcome children Roman and Lilah together.
Sharing an update on their relationship in the latest episode of the At Home With The Thomas Bros podcast, he explained that he had been getting ‘the prolonged side-eye’ from his partner for the last few days.
“I’ve just been f**king up all the time,” he told brothers Scott and Adam Thomas. “She’s giving me the stink eye. [She said] ‘You just expect things all the time. Come and sit with me on the couch and watch a series with me, stroke my feet. Be affectionate and sit with me.’
“In the house in Manchester, we have two living rooms … we stay in separate beds and we have separate living rooms.”
Adam interjected, telling his sibling: “I think it’s f***ed up, personally, as well. You need to stay in the same bed as her.”
“It’s two bedrooms, two people sleep separately. Two living rooms, we watch telly separately,” Ryan continued, before cackling: “Basically we don’t really like each other…”
He explained that they watch TV separately as they have different taste in shows, as Lucy enjoys “American cheesy series”, while he likes crime movies and “weird stuff”.
However, while staying at their home in London – which is slightly smaller – he conceded that they have to watch TV together as they only have one living room.
“I’m sat there and I’m thinking, this is a bit weird,” he added. “I like my time on my own…
“What is normal? Who’s got the rule book of what you’re supposed to do? I’m doing what I want! My house, my rules, that’s how it is. Well, it’s Lucy’s rules actually.”
Ryan and Lucy are coming up to their 10-year anniversary very soon – they met while filming Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls together in 2017 and got engaged two years later.
The mum-of-two previously shed light on their sleeping arrangements when she made a guest appearance on her partner’s podcast in 2025, putting the blame firmly on him.
“Basically we sleep in separate bedrooms because Ryan is a nightmare sleeper,” she said at the time. “Basically, Ryan snores, he sleep talks, he whacks me in his sleep.”
“Just to get a good night sleep and that’s just become normal now,” she added. “”I’ve spoken to other people and it’s pretty normal in their house [too].”
