(NewsNation) — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has moved ahead of California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) in early prediction-market odds for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination.
As of Wednesday, Ocasio-Cortez had an 18 percent chance of winning the Democratic nomination on Polymarket, narrowly ahead of Newsom at 17 percent.
Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) ranked third at about 16 percent, according to the data.
The New York Democrat has drawn increased attention this week after announcing she’s freezing her eggs. She has also been documenting the process on her social media, which received mixed reactions.
Despite Ocasio-Cortez’s lead on Polymarket, traders on Kalshi still rank Newsom as the favorite.
The early numbers reflect prediction-market sentiment and are not formal polling or an indication of who is likely to ultimately seek the nomination.
