The Fallout franchise might not have seen a new release in the single-player series for a while, but there are plenty of exciting releases coming down the pipeline to keep things interesting. As well as remasters for the older games in the series, Bethesda has also confirmed that the fifth game in the series has finally entered production in earnest.
The unfortunate caveat to all of that good stuff is that it will be a while before we get to play any of it, leaving us looking for our post-apocalyptic fix elsewhere. Happily, there are plenty of options, and one of the best is the TTRPG, which remains one of the most underrated examples of the genre.
Over on the official Modiphius page, you can find all of the product listings for Fallout: The Roleplaying Game, a TTRPG system that translates the franchise to that format extremely efficiently. Back in February, the company confirmed that they have a ton of upcoming plans for the game, including setting guides for New Vegas and New California (from the early Fallout games).
The former has now appeared for pre-orders on the website, which should mean that the New California setting should follow in relatively short order. We don’t have details just yet, but the company has already shared a breakdown of the New Vegas release, so fans know exactly what to expect:
“New Vegas is the shining jewel in the desert of the Mojave: an independent state controlled and owned by the wealthy, reclusive, and seemingly immortal Mr. House. It is a glittering oasis that draws in wanderers and Wastelanders chasing caps and trying their luck. The Setting Guide includes everything from two new character origins, 30 new weapons, 11 new clothing and armor options, and a breakdown of how to setup the NPCs of the Mojave. The New California release will likely follow a similar format, with pre-orders for that expected to open up at the back end of the year.
We also have the third season of the excellent Fallout Prime Video adaptation to look forward to next year, when hopefully we should also get at least one of the remasters. Add the TTRPG releases above, and we should have some genuine fun over the next 12-18 months.
