Former NBA player Rashad McCants, 41, who briefly dated Khloe, 42, from 2008 to 2009, revealed in a recent interview that he escaped the relationship just as the Kardashian-Jenner fandom took off.

The conversation occurred during an appearance on the TFU Podcast on June 24, when Rashad was asked about the validity of the “Kardashian Kurse.”

The so-called curse is a long-running myth that suggests that men who date members of the famous family have experienced a sudden downfall in their careers, personal lives, and reputation.

“I don’t know, man, I didn’t get cursed. I got out,” Rashad joked about his and Khloe’s short-lived love affair.

He then name-dropped several celebrities who’ve been romantically linked to the Kar-Jenner clan before their public spirals, including Lamar Odom, Ray J, Kanye West, and Caitlyn Jenner.

“Ask them,” the athlete laughed.

When asked what led him to break things off with Khloe, Rashad said the spotlight was “too much.”

He also claimed that Khloe had strict rules about what he said and did in the relationship because of their massive presence in the public eye.

The basketball star then shared that a move he made on Facebook solidified their split once and for all.

“I changed my relationship status to ‘It’s complicated.’ This is what did it all,” Rashad revealed.

He said the change to his profile quickly spread in the media, prompting Khloe to confront him about it.

“It’s complicated. You date me because you want me to help you do some s**t. We have an agreement. This is not, I like you, I like your sister,” Rashad confessed, referring to Kim Kardashian, who was dating NFL star Reggie Bush at the time.

“I’m here for different reasons, so are you, so it’s complicated.”

He added, “And I’m trying to convince other girls the same, like…no no no, we’re not dating, we’re just visibly holding hands. We’re not doing too much. We can still do what we do.

“It got too much. I was like, you know what, I’m cool.”

Khloe and Rashad dated for about seven months before breaking up in January 2009.

At the time, they cited their hectic and conflicting schedules as the reason for their split.

Rashad ended his NBA career shortly after, sparking chatter that his breakup with Khloe had something to do with it.

He was traded from the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Sacramento Kings in February 2009 and had talks with several other teams about possibly joining, but he never returned to the court after the 2008-09 season.

Rashad claimed in a February 2023 interview that his departure from the league was “a mental thing” and not because of his connection to Khloe.

However, he later claimed in an interview that he was let go by the Timberwolves because his relationship with the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star created unwanted attention, causing conflict between him and his teammates.
