In tonight’s The Walking Dead: Dead City episode, Maggie thought she wanted more people. Until she realized that Negan might’ve had a point about wanting just good people. There weren’t many of those left and Manhattan was now crawling with people from all around the country if not world. Manhattan could’ve been a fortress.
They were clearing out Central Park to grow more food to create a bread basket for this new fortress. They were preparing for winter. Maggie asked Negan if he wanted to help and he laughed in her face. He had more important things to do.
The only seemingly good thing about that day had been when Maggie said the Dama killed herself. Negan enjoyed hearing that even as he said he wasn’t planting seeds. He was helping Dillard killed one of the walking dead in the bar because it had essentially become a skeleton. He did his best to tell Dillard that it was a kindness.
If it was, Dillard didn’t believe in it. He was trapped with the dead for years before Negan came along. They were his friends. Dillard firmly believed in the sacredness of life. He killed to survive. Not to prove a point.
The two were arguing back and forth when they saw the flare. The flare signaled something was amiss. They followed it as did Maggie and Renata. They found a bunch of boats had washed up onto their shores. It was people from Belleville. They claimed they were attacked by Newark. They claimed to be refugees in need of medical assistance.
They followed the light because they wanted to believe that it still meant something. It did for a handful. Only Luis still believed they should never had lit up the night sky. It was going to bring danger to them and it might already have that night.
Renata stayed on the beach with a bunch of others in case the people from Newark showed up. They did and they claimed to be in need of assistance. They said that Belleville attacked them first.
The hospital was overrun with people in need of help and now enemies were side by side. It was going to lead to a disaster eventually. Someone threatened Luis when they saw him helping the other side. Maggie had to get physical to save Luis and they were quickly losing control of the hospital. Dillard had to talk Negan into helping.
