Battle Of Blackwater Bay Officially Releases August 13

The early seasons of Game of Thrones were filled with some of the most heart-wrenching moments in television history. From Ned Stark’s tragic fate at the end of Season 1 all the way through Season 3’s infamous Red Wedding surprise, this was unquestionably the golden age of HBO’s Game of Thrones series.

Game of Thrones became notorious for delivering shocking twists and surprises during each season’s penultimate episode, and arguably one of the most emotional moments in the show happened during the showdown in Blackwater Bay in Season 2, Episode 9, titled simply “Blackwater.” As Stannis Baratheon’s fleet advanced on King’s Landing, Tyrion Lannister unleashed a devastating cache of wildfire that incinerated much of the attacking armada and turned the tide of the battle.

Amid the carnage, Davos Seaworth delivered one of Liam Cunningham’s finest performances as he watched his son Matthos perish in the explosion and barely escaped with his own life, officially breaking fans’ hearts during one of the series’ most spectacular battles. And in an upcoming release on August 13, fans are officially headed back to the Battle of Blackwater Bay for a chance to turn the tide once again (via GoT Legends).

Battle of Blackwater Bay is a unique limited-time event for Game of Thrones: Legends, the free-to-play mobile puzzle RPG from Zynga that lets players build teams of iconic characters from Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon while battling through story missions, raids, PvP events, and rotating seasonal content.

Running from August 13–17, the event is one stop on the game’s broader August event schedule, which also features themed quests based on House of the Dragon, the Assault on Rook’s Rest, and Robb’s War.

Like other recurring special events in Game of Thrones: Legends, Battle of Blackwater Bay challenges players to complete themed battles, climb the game’s leaderboards, earn event rewards, and take advantage of a limited-time summon tied to the event.

Game of Thrones: Legends’ Blackwater Summon features four Legendary Champions: Davos Seaworth (Hand of Stannis), Daario Naharis, Tyrion Lannister (The Half Man), and The Night King. Each Legendary Champion gives players another chance to strengthen their roster with some of the game’s best and most iconic characters before the event ends.
