The Washington Nationals almost certainly aren’t going to trade shortstop CJ Abrams…

… but if they did!

The Boston Red Sox have the highest chances to be the superstar shortstop’s landing spot, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan and Buster Olney.

“If Abrams were to move, Boston would be the best bet, though the likelihood is minimal,” Passan wrote on Sunday.

Abrams, 25, reportedly would require a blockbuster return in order to be moved, with his current organization looking for major leaguers and prospects in return.

Boston has been linked to several shortstops — Cincinnati Reds’ Elly De La Cruz, Los Angeles Angels’ Zach Neto, and Miami Marlins’ Otto Lopez — and are the biggest threat to land one of them. Passan described them as “aggressive” and said there’s at least a small chance that one of the teams looking to sell could try to take advantage.
