Watching severe storm threat today


Tornado Warnings were issued across much of the region Tuesday afternoon.


Severe storm risk today 

Scattered showers and storms are expected to develop today, potentially becoming strong to severe, capable of producing damaging winds, hail, and an isolated tornado.

A second round of storms is expected to develop this aftenroon and evening keeping all modes of severe weather possible through this evening.

Flash flooding is also becoming a risk this afternoon with slow-moving heavy downpours.

Ongoing flash flood warnings are impacting parts of SW Virginia until 5pm to 6pm this evening.

Pleasant weather mid-week 

Weather conditions will be very pleasant for late July with sunshine and low humidity starting on Wednesday.  Daytime temperatures will range from the mid 70s in the mountains to the low to mid 80s in the Tri-Cities.  

Meanwhile, overnight lows will be nice with upper 50s to low 60s Wednesday and Thursday night.  

Weekend outlook 

Low pressure will be influencing our region this weekend, which means a chance for scattered showers and storms on Saturday.  Rain chances rise on Sunday with better coverage of those scattered showers and storms.
