Set to hit cinemas in just a few days time, Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks the fourth film in the MCU Spider-Man series following 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. Welcoming Tom Holland back into the fray as our favorite web-slinger, the newest entry will see Peter Parker anonymously protecting New York City, all whilst dealing with new-and-improved superpowers which are currently experiencing a mysterious evolution.
Arriving in cinemas on 31 July (29 July in the UK), Spider-Man: Brand New Day releases as part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, if you want more Spider-Man action in the meantime, PlayStation is offering gamers the chance to experience one of the best superhero games of all time at no extra cost.
Courtesy of PlayStation Plus, members with the Extra subscription tier can now download and play Marvel’s Spider-Man for free, saving themselves a whopping $49.99 in the process. First released back in 2018 by Insomniac Games, the story follows Peter’s origin story as he develops his spider-like abilities for the first time. After being met with both critical and commercial success, becoming the second most successful PlayStation 4 title of all time, it went on to welcome two sequels: Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Additionally, back in 2020, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered was released for the PlayStation 5, before heading to Steam and Epic Games in 2022. More recently, it was released as a standalone purchase on the PS5 as of 2023, and it is this version that is free as part of the PlayStation Plus Extra library.
This isn’t the Spider-Man you’ve met or ever seen before. In Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, we meet an experienced Peter Parker who’s more masterful at fighting big crime in New York City. At the same time, he’s struggling to balance his chaotic personal life and career while the fate of Marvel’s New York rests upon his shoulders.
It was back in 2022 that our very own Rob Gordon reviewed Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered for PC, calling it “wonderful web-slinging action” in his review.
