An elderly Florida man has been arrested after authorities say he set his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle on fire while she was still inside following an argument.
According to Local 10 News, the incident occurred on Monday in Oakland Park, located in Broward County. Investigators say Franklin Davis and the victim had recently ended their 42-year relationship before getting into an argument.
Authorities allege Davis was under the influence of alcohol when he poured a flammable liquid onto the victim’s vehicle and ignited it while she was inside the car in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven. The woman suffered third-degree burns to her left leg during the incident.
Suspect Also Injured During Fire
Authorities said Davis also sustained burns to his hands and face during the alleged attack. He was taken into custody and booked into the Broward County Main Jail.
According to investigators, Davis now faces multiple charges, including premeditated attempted murder, arson causing bodily harm, solicitation, and criminal intent.
The case remains under investigation.
