But, it wasn’t the tournament that got people talking online, it was Carrie.

The 43-year-old was slammed by fans for her “horrible” rendition of her hit song ‘Before He Cheats.’

Perhaps one of Carrie’s most powerful tunes, depicting a scorned woman getting her revenge on her unfaithful ex, surprisingly didn’t got down well with fans.

They called it “embarrassing” online with others saying she looked very awkward onstage.

Headliner Carrie has regularly sold-out venues like Madison Square Garden and Chicago‘s Allstate Arena but eagle-eyed fans are convinced she performed for just “a couple dozen people” over the weekend.

Rumours of a small crowd circulated online after fans saw snaps of a thinned-out crowd.

Tournament officials estimated Carrie had an audience of around 12,000, according to Quad-City Times.

One fan wrote: “How did Carrie go from performing stadiums to singing for a couple dozen people on a golf course?”

“Never thought I’d see the day she would sound bad,” said another fan.

A third fan added: “How is she not embarrassed by this? The decline of Carrie’s career in the past year needs to be studied.”

Meanwhile, another penned: “I don’t know why you guys are hating this was a private event on a golf course.”

A fifth person said: “She’s still Carrie Underwood and that’s an achievement in itself.”

Carrie skyrocketed onto the music scene in 2005 after winning the fourth season of American Idol.

She went from being a college student from Oklahoma to being a huge success overnight.

Her breakthrough single was ‘Take the Wheel’ and it was the lead track on her debut album Some Hearts.

Carrie is best known for her tunes ‘Before He Cheats’, ‘Cowboy Casanova’ and ‘Heartbeat.’

The American singer still has a jam-packed schedule juggling judging American Idol, her businesses, live show and festival performances and her radio channel Carrie’s Country.
