KIM Kardashian has spoken out after receiving backlash over posting bikini photos following her grandmother’s death.
The reality star’s grandmother, Mary Jo “MJ” Campbell, passed away on Thursday at 91.
Not long after Kim‘s mother, Kris Jenner, 70, shared the news of the family matriarch’s death on Instagram, Kim shared highlights from her lavish lake vacation on her own page.
The post included photos of Kim, 45, and her sister, Khloe Kardashian, 42, dressed in skimpy black bikinis while enjoying a boat ride.
A video also showed Kim water surfing, while other photos captured her riding bikes and motorbikes around the property with her kids.
Much of the Kardashian-Jenner clan appeared to be on the trip, as Kim and Khloe’s kids were featured in several photos, as well as their brother Rob Kardashian’s daughter.

Khloe is a mom to True, 8, and Tatum, 3, with her ex, Tristan Thompson, while Rob shares his daughter Dream, 9, with his ex, Blac Chyna.
Kim received harsh criticism after sharing the post, as many didn’t think it was an appropriate time to brag about her luxurious getaway.
The Skims founder addressed fans’ reactions in the comments of her post, noting that it had been scheduled earlier and that she was currently grieving with her family.

“This post was scheduled a few days ago before we lost MJ, so its timing came right alongside her passing,” Kim explained.
“I’ve been by my mom and grandma’s side this past week, and my heart is completely with my family right now. We love and miss her so deeply, and in the days ahead, we’ll be focusing on celebrating her beautiful life,” she added.
Moments later, Kim shared a tribute to her grandmother in a separate post, featuring photos of them together and a lengthy caption.
“My sweet Grandma MJ, my best friend, my gossip buddy, my forever twin… You taught all of us the importance of family, and those values are something we’ll carry with us forever!!!!!” the beauty mogul’s caption read.
“You were the woman who showed me what it meant to be a hardworking businesswoman. You gave me my very first job at your store in San Diego and taught me lessons about work ethic, strength, and confidence that I’ve carried with me ever since.
“You always believed in me, championed me, and were my safe place. You truly were the matriarch of our family, and your love is woven into all of us.”
Kim’s post continued, “I know you’re at peace now. Give Papa Harry, Aunt Karen, and my dad a hug for me. You will always be a part of me, I love you soooooo much and I will miss you forever and ever. YOU ARE THE BEST OF US!!!
“I know you are up in heaven, looking at all of our Instagram posts of you from your sneaky finsta account you would always use lol.”
Just two months earlier, MJ gathered with her famous daughter and grandchildren to celebrate Mother’s Day.
Her family captured the day, in what became the beloved grandmother’s final photos, on social media.
MJ’s final public appearance was in December 2024, when she stepped out with a walker for dinner with Kris in Beverly Hills.
