Steam has recently launched the fan-favorite “Cat Awareness – Feline Sale” event by DEVCATS as part of one of several unique events that run throughout the year. This limited-time themed event showcases games from an array of genres that feature adorable feline characters or games that are focused around cats in some form.

You may or may not be surprised to learn just how many cat-based games there are out there for PC gamers, and many of the games showcased for Cat Awareness include either a discount, a free demo, or some sort of bundle incentive that gamers can take advantage of while the event lasts. It isn’t only about having fun with kitties in unique games, however, as DEVCATS are seeking “to raise awareness about cats and encourage the adoption of felines through our games.”

While you’d probably expect most games themed around cats to be adorable or cozy, this unique title features kitties in a completely unexpected way, and it’s a terrifying survival-horror experience that you can sign up to playtest for free right now (via Steam).

The Cats Are Out For Blood In New Steam Horror

LAG KILLS is an upcoming slasher-horror survival game featured as part of the Cat Awareness event on Steam, and while it does feature adorable kittens throughout the game, there’s nothing cute about the game itself. LAG KILLS’ premise is somewhat straightforward and features a sort of Alien: Isolation style gameplay loop where you’ve entered the wrong house uninvited and it turns out the owner is a deranged serial killer.

As if that wasn’t sinister enough, LAG KILLS features a unique interaction in-game where, if you don’t remember to feed the cats, they’re going to rat you out to the murderer who owns the house, and you’re pretty much done for. It also features customizable cats if you end up befriending and saving them, with a range of cool hats and outfits to choose from.

The game features both solo mode and multiplayer co-op functionality.

Your goal is to loot as many items around the house as you can to help you get out of your debt. Decide which items are the most valuable, and bring as much as you can carry. Be careful though, because you can’t keep looting forever.

If you’re interested in checking out LAG KILLS, open playtest sign-ups are currently live on Steam now, where you can volunteer as a sacrificial lamb and help the indie devs at Deranged Games work out the kinks on the project before its full launch later this year.
