HONOLULU, Hawaii – Embry-Riddle closed out play at the Shark Tank Classic on Saturday by splitting a doubleheader, falling to Oregon Tech in four sets before bouncing back with a convincing sweep of Doane (Neb.).
Oregon Tech 3, Embry-Riddle 1
The Eagles opened the day with a hard-fought battle against Oregon Tech, dropping a 3-1 decision by set scores of 25-21, 25-23, 17-25 and 25-18.
Despite the loss, Embry-Riddle remained competitive throughout the first two sets before breaking through in the third. The Eagles hit .258 in the frame and pulled away for a 25-17 victory to extend the match. Oregon Tech responded in the fourth set, however, using a late run to secure the win.
Anela Chew led the Eagle attack with 12 kills while adding 13 digs for a double-double. Brooke Eglinton contributed 11 kills and four block assists, while Abbylynn Farrell added eight kills and Hannah Clear chipped in seven kills on a .357 attack percentage.
Setter Alice Tuci directed the offense with 25 assists and three service aces. Sydney Sniffen anchored the defense with a team-high 16 digs as the Eagles totaled 63 digs as a team.
Embry-Riddle 3, Doane 0
The Eagles responded in impressive fashion in the second match of the day, sweeping Doane 25-19, 25-10 and 25-18 to earn their first victory of the season.
Embry-Riddle controlled the match from the opening set, finishing with a .167 hitting percentage while limiting the Tigers to a -.044 mark. The Eagles also held the advantage in service aces (10-2) and total blocks (15-11).
Hannah Clear and Abbylynn Farrell paced the offense with nine kills each. Clear was especially efficient, recording a blistering .692 hitting percentage with no attacking errors. Anela Chew added eight kills and a team-high 13 digs, while Alexsandra Rodriguez provided four kills on eight swings without an error.
Sydney Sniffen and Brooke Eglinton each recorded two service aces, and Destiny Matthews finished with five total blocks as the Eagles held Doane to just 19 kills across three sets.
With the split, Embry-Riddle finished the day 1-1 in Honolulu and picked up its first win of the 2026 campaign.
