As the name suggests, The Whisper Man adapts the 2019 novel of the same name, and focuses around the efforts to catch the elusive serial killer who is referred to as The Whisper Man due to his reported tactic of luring his victims to him with whispering. The book was well-recieved – with a 4/5 review score today on Goodreads – and the praise levied at the novel’s plot, ability to build tension, and character building bodes particularly well for the movie adaptation of the story, especially given those involved.
It’s also worth noting that The Whisper Man is set to be helmed by director James Ashcroft, which is an exciting prospect given Ashcroft’s smaller filmography, which most recently includes The Rule of Jenny Pen, a psychological horror that also has received considerable praise for its ability to build tension and leave audiences on the edge of their seats, which is exactly what The Whisper Man also needs.
