NBC Sports host Michael Holley fainted live on air during Friday’s edition of PFT Live, leaving co-host Mike Florio visibly stunned as he exclaimed, “Did he just pass out?”
The clip, which made rounds on the internet despite the network’s decision not to re-air the show as it usually does on Peacock, NBCSN, or Sky Sports, shows Holley slowly leaning back in his chair as Florio discussed the NFL before he finally fell back out of frame.
“What happened to Michael Holley?” Florio questioned on-air after noticing his co-host was no longer visible. A noise, seemingly Holley hitting the floor, was then heard over the broadcast, leading Florio to worry, “Did he just pass out?”
According to a write-up posted by Florio in the aftermath of the incident, Holley ultimately emerged from the scare in good condition, though he needed five stitches for a cut to his knee sustained in the fall.
The Pro Football Talk creator and editor-in-chief explained that Holley had become overheated while broadcasting remotely from a studio he described as very warm. The host had also gone into the two-hour show, which began at 7 a.m. ET, without eating or drinking anything beforehand.
Once Holley disappeared from view, the program immediately cut to commercial, and staffers began trying to reach his wife. Florio wrote that Holley began moving again within roughly a minute and subsequently assured him that he was OK.
Florio said the incident also prompted a change behind the scenes. Going forward, the show’s control room will keep emergency contact information readily available for hosts appearing remotely so that their family members can be reached as quickly as possible in the event of a medical emergency.
Holley, who has been on PFT Live for the past two years, is expected to return for his next scheduled appearance.
