Paul Pelosi skips hit-and-run court date, sends high-powered attorneys

Paul Pelosi, the husband of Nancy Pelosi, didn’t show face for his arraignment over his alleged Fourth of July weekend hit-and-run crash, leaving his attorneys to face the judge for him.

Pelosi’s case was called in a Napa County courtroom Friday. He was charged with one count of misdemeanor hit-and-run driving and hit with one infraction for an unlawful turning movement in July.

Pelosi’s lawyers entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.

Photos obtained by The California Post showed the badly damaged Tesla that Pelosi allegedly struck with his brown convertible before driving away on July 3.

Napa County sheriff’s deputies responded around 2:30 p.m. to the 6700 block of Yount Street in Yountville after a witness reported seeing a northbound vehicle rear-end a parked car, pushing its right tire onto the curb. The witness said the driver briefly stopped before leaving.

Deputies later found Pelosi partially blocking Yountville Cross Road in his heavily damaged convertible. Pelosi told investigators he knew he had struck something but did not realize what it was and continued driving until his car became disabled.

Authorities ruled out alcohol after a preliminary screening showed Pelosi had a 0.00 blood-alcohol level.

“Mr. Paul Pelosi has personally apologized to the owner of the vehicle and assured them that he would take responsibility for the damage to their vehicle,” a spokesperson for Pelosi and his wife, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, told The California Post after the crash.

The incident came four years after Pelosi was arrested for DUI following a May 2022 crash in Napa County. He had been driving home from a dinner in Oakville when his Porsche collided with another vehicle.
