The Bachelorette’s Trista Sutter is ready to reflect — and apologize — after a tense conversation with The Bachelor alum Courtney Robertson.
“When you’re in that kind of situation, like a conflict resolution, emotions are really high,” Trista, 53, said on the Wednesday, August 12, episode of iHeartRadio’s “Almost Famous” podcast. “I feel like just finding my words is a struggle these days, just with age, unfortunately.”
During a recent trip with iHeartRadio, Courtney, 43, and Trista reunited and proved their relationship is far from rosy. Both Bachelor Nation members expressed hurt for past comments made on and off social media.
At one point, Courtney accused Trista of treating her “like scum.”

“There were definitely things that afterwards, I felt like, ‘Oh gosh, why didn’t I do that?’ or, ‘Why didn’t I say that?’” Trista recalled in her latest podcast episode with cohost Bob Guiney. “When I was given the floor, I wish I would have just said, ‘I’m sorry again for hurting you.’”
As she began to cry, the OG Bachelorette continued, “I know I did, and I know how it feels to be hurt, and I feel like that’s part of why I went back to the beginning and why I brought up the other podcasts about her saying that I would go to the opening of an envelope and other things that were said, like, that I have an ego about me.”
Trista wished she remembered that Courtney was going through her own struggles, including a public divorce from her estranged husband, Humberto Preciado.
“I wanted my hurt to be heard, and I wish I would have just put that aside and started with love, especially with what she’s going through,” Trista explained. “My marriage is not perfect by any means. I know how hard it is to get through the difficult times in marriage, but it seems like there have been some pretty hard times.”
During the candid podcast episode, Bob, 55, asked his longtime friend and cohost if she could ever see a reconciliation with Courtney — especially with cameras and microphones far away.

“I never say never with anything. At the end of the podcast, I said, ‘As someone who has always felt maternal toward people on the show, I love my Bachelor Nation family,’” Trista said. “She is part of that. But we don’t have to be friends. You don’t have to like me.”
It’s one of the lessons she’s taken away from the past week when reminding each and every listener that they can pick their chosen family.
“Everyone has different experiences, different senses of humor, different value systems, all of that. We are not all equal, but we all are human,” she said. “I don’t necessarily like certain things that she’s said about me, and I guarantee she doesn’t like things that I’ve said about her. So there’s that. But the hope is that we can move forward and if she’s listening — which she’s got a lot going on, I don’t expect her to be — but I do hope that she knows that I’m sorry.”
