Hayden Christensen’s turn as Anakin Skywalker came in for a lot of undue criticism at the time of the Star Wars prequel trilogy, but that reputation has wholly turned around in the period since. The actor has now become highly appreciated for his approach to the tragic character, and it has actually become one of the more wholesome stories in cinema.
As such, his rendition of the character has also become pretty iconic overall, and seeing someone else step into the role is always going to draw attention from the considerable fan base. Now, a new project has given Anakin something of a new appearance, and the resemblance may well have been designed to make the character as similar to his new actor as possible.
The next big franchise release coming down the pipeline is Star Wars Zero Company, a single-player turn-based tactics game set in the final days of the devastating Clone Wars. It features a ton of classic factions, characters, weapons, and more, with the early signs being that it really could be one of the better games tied to the series that we have seen in recent years.
Over on Twitter/X, the user Star Wars Holocron shared a post featuring a screenshot of Anakin’s appearance in the upcoming game, noticing a marked difference in his facial features. “Anakin Skywalker in STAR WARS: ZERO COMPANY appears to resemble Matt Lanter more than Hayden Christensen,” the post reads.
Actor Matt Lanter is the name stepping into the role this time around, reprising the position after earlier appearances in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, as well as other releases over the last decade or more.
The character doesn’t end up looking too dissimilar from the version we all know and love in the prequel trilogy, but there are notable differences, and that’s bound to draw attention from the considerable fan base that’s waiting for the game. We’re still waiting for a reveal of many of the other characters who are likely to appear, but if they have all been changed, it could mark the start of a whole new era.
In even better news, we don’t have to wait long to find out what developer Bit Reactor has in store for us with Star Wars Zero Company, with the game scheduled to release before the end of the month, on August 28. It’s available to pre-order now, with some cosmetic incentives available for those who do.
