Travis Kelce spoke for the first time about his ‘crazy’ wedding to Taylor Swift after the pair tied the knot at Madison Square Garden in New York in July
Travis Kelce has broken his silence on his wedding day to Taylor Swift a month after they exchanged their vows in a ‘crazy’ ceremony. The Kansas City Chiefs star, 36, and Love Story singer, also 36, said I do at Madison Square Garden in front of 1,000 people in July.
And he admitted it was a situation that saw him live out his childhood dream. Not because he was married, but because he was at the iconic venue.
In a press conference for his NFL commitments, Travis touched about the occasion. He gushed: “MSG, man. I always told myself I’d go for a playoff game when the Knicks were rocking.
“My wife went when I was stuck in mini camp so I didn’t get my opportunity to go then. It was kind of cool to be able to live out my childhood dream of being at that venue, the mecca of all sports venues … [and] get married there,”
He went on to thank the owners for agreeing to their request. He said: “I thank the owners for allowing us the opportunity to do that knowing we wanted a private event and everything. It was perfect.”
And for his favourite part? “The AC was cooking. That was the best part,” he joked.
Clearly still on cloud nine since the special day, he also said: “It was a fun offseason, man.” He labelled it the “best night of [his] life”.
And it appeared Travis was ready to cash in on his wedding day shortly after the ceremony. Days after the big day, , Travis appeared in an advert for Accelerator Active Energy, a brand which offers zero-sugar energy drinks.
In the ad, Travis looks over his shoulder and smiles, with the words: “Happily. Ever. After” penned at the top.
In another snap, there was a vintage red truck that had ‘Just Married’ printed and a number of energy drink cans were hooked to the back of the truck. “The love story continues. CONGRATS @killatrav!!!” the caption reads.
Taylor and Travis’ wedding was shrouded in secrecy before they tied the knot. A source claimed Paul McCartney of The Beatles sang his hot song ‘I Want to Hold Your Hand.’ Stevie Nicks was also to have said to perform.
Food was said to have been provided by one of Taylor’s favourite New York City restaurants, Zero Bond, and guests were treated to Italian and sushi.
Greg James was among the bumper guest list. When he returned to his breakfast show, he told listeners: “I had the best night.
“The food was plentiful and delicious.” And he joked that while most weddings provide guests with their first drink for free, the showbiz power couple provided the “first 10,000 drinks free”.
