Tupac Shakur’s murder trial is set to begin this month, putting pressure on prosecutors to provide evidence against the man charged in the rapper’s killing.

Nearly 30 years after his brutal assassination, the trial is set to begin against Duane ‘Keffe D’ Davis. The rapper’s murder has remained unresolved over the decades; Davis is the only man charged with the murder.
The murder case took a turn when Duane ‘Keffe D’ Davis published his memoir, in which he discussed his alleged role in the killing. After those statements, he was arrested in 2023 on charges related to Tupac’s murder. He has been behind bars since then.
According to Radar, insiders suggested that Davis has been a person of interest, but police lacked evidence. After he wrote about the killing in a memoir, he was arrested.
Sam Mirejovsky, who is an attorney and partner at Sam & Ash Law, spoke to Radar about the pressure on the case. He said, “Enormous pressure, and it is one-way. This is the only person ever charged in the most famous unsolved murder in Nevada history.” He also suggested that prosecutors have been building this case for years and therefore cannot afford to lose.
“If Davis walks, jeopardy attaches, and it is over. Forever. There is no second bite. An acquittal here doesn’t mean try again. It means never,” he added.
Although Davis discussed the killing in his memoir, he has pleaded not guilty. Reportedly, one of the three passengers in the car opened fire at Tupac Shakur and Suge Knight.
Suge Knight is a surviving witness in the case; however, he refused to testify in court. His refusal added further pressure on prosecutors.
While the trial is set to begin this month, it remains another matter whether Tupac will finally receive justice.
