President Donald Trump “has not looked well” former Vice President Dick Cheney’s cardiologist declared on Wednesday as he called for transparency from the White House about the commander in chief’s health.

In a New York Times op-ed titled, “I Was Dick Cheney’s Cardiologist. Trump Has Not Looked Well, and We Should Know Why,” Jonathan Reiner insisted Trump’s “ailments” were easily apparent.

“Despite reassurances from the White House to the contrary, at times over the past year, the president has not looked well,” he wrote. “I am not Mr. Trump’s doctor, and have only reviewed his records that have been made public. But Mr. Trump is probably the most photographed president in American history, and a variety of physical ailments are easy to see.”

Reiner pointed to several concerns with the 80-year-old president, including bruising on his hands — the White House has explained this away as the result of frequent handshakes — swelling in his legs, and an apparent inability to stay awake during various events.

He added: “He’s had large bruises on both hands, swelling in his legs and episodes when it appears that he is struggling to stay awake. He’s also had advanced imaging performed for unclear reasons. The public is again left to wonder whether the nation’s leader is OK.”

Reiner called for a congressional commission to shed light on any questions surrounding Trump’s health.

He went on to list seven possible inquiries, including the president’s “sleepiness” and what prompted him to undergo a controversial MRI last year.

“In a representative democracy, the people must have confidence in the health of their leader, and in the leader’s capacity to guide the nation,” Reiner wrote. “We have been kept in the dark too long.”

It’s not the first time Reiner has raised questions about Trump’s health.

In May, he told CNN anchor Kate Bolduan that Americans deserve a “clear understanding” that Trump is “fit for duty” while speculating the president suffers from daytime somnolence, a disorder marked by an uncontrollable urge to fall asleep during the day.
