Donald Trump Faces Impeachment Threat If Democrats Win House

Donald Trump is now facing fresh threats of impeachment if Democrats win back the majority in the U.S. House of Representatives after the November midterms.

However, sources claim Democrats would prefer to investigate him first, using their power to hold hearings and issue subpoenas, before pursuing an impeachment case against him, if at all.

Trump has been accused of using his office as president to enrich himself, his family members, and allies, with figures in several eyebrow-raising cases amounting to as high as several billion dollars.

House Democrats are reportedly laying the groundwork for a sweeping investigative campaign targeting private companies, contractors, and financial entities linked to President Donald Trump if they regain the chamber majority in the upcoming November midterm elections.

The president’s financial dealings since he assumed office for a second non-consecutive term have continued to leave a sour taste, with many suggesting he has been using his position to enrich himself and his allies.

Sources familiar with the internal discussions shared that senior Democratic lawmakers and committee aides will prioritize aggressive congressional oversight using subpoenas, public hearings, and document requests to probe administration decisions and corporate ties, per Reuters.

However, lawmakers emphasize that impeachment remains an option if the inquiries uncover evidence meeting the constitutional threshold for high crimes and misdemeanors.

The move became apparent to many Democrats after what they experienced during Trump’s first tenure, in which he was impeached twice by the House but acquitted both times by the Senate.

He was first impeached in December 2019 for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress regarding Ukraine, and again in January 2021 for incitement of insurrection related to the U.S. Capitol attack.

According to Reuters, party leaders fear that moving straight to an impeachment vote without first establishing a comprehensive body of evidence could allow the White House to dismiss the effort as purely partisan and trigger prolonged executive resistance.

“We’re not going into this to impeach,” a senior Democratic aide familiar with the strategy said. “No one wants a failed vote on day one. The focus is on building a body of evidence through investigations that can hold Trump accountable.”

Republicans currently hold a slim majority in the House, but Democrats are tipped to win it back after the November elections.

A Democratic majority would give the party the power to choose the Speaker of the House, lead all congressional committees, and set the legislative agenda.

Inquiries under consideration target corporate donors, Department of Homeland Security defense contractors, and financial vehicles connected to Trump’s inner circle and family members.

In fact, two sources claimed that Democrats have already begun firing off voluntary information requests to various companies and regulatory entities, a step aimed at laying the paper trail for enforceable subpoenas should the party win the gavels in November.

Democratic Reps. Robert Garcia of California and Jamie Raskin of Maryland noted that the scope will become broader if they take back the House.

“From sketchy Pentagon contracts lining the pockets of the president’s sons, Trump’s crypto billions, and the shady backroom deals for Trump donors, we will ensure we combat corruption when Democrats take back the House in November,” Garcia said in a statement.

In response, the White House reiterated that President Trump remains focused on maintaining Republican majorities in Congress and stated that the administration is fully prepared to respond to congressional oversight regardless of which party controls the House.

Since regaining control of the Oval Office, the billionaire politician has drawn intense scrutiny, with disclosures revealing more than $1.4 billion in cryptocurrency earnings, thousands of active stock trades, and a paid service charging for instantaneous access to his market-moving social media posts.

Earlier this year, the BBC found a pattern of sharp spikes in the number of trades entered just hours or days before the president makes a social media post or grants an interview.

Experts suggest the activity points to potential insider trading, as people place bets on market moves based on information that isn’t public yet.

He also raised eyebrows when it was revealed that he owned shares in several large American corporations and executed more than 3,600 trades in the first three months of this year.

However, his family continues to insist they don’t have anything to do with the trades, as they were automatically entered by an outside brokerage firm that the president chose to manage his portfolio upon his reelection.

“Neither President Trump, his family, nor The Trump Organization has any role in selecting, directing, approving, influencing or soliciting specific investments,” the Trump Organization said in a statement, per The New York Times. “They receive no advance notice of trades, cannot alter or override the managers’ strategies or models, and provide no input regarding investment decisions or portfolio operations.”

“This structure was intentionally designed to maintain a clear separation between President Trump and the independent third-party investment managers overseeing the accounts and avoid even the appearance of any conflict of interest,” the statement read.
