Ryan said it is hoped everyone will get to play, particularly with so many games in a short space of time.
“You’ve got to limit your trainings and just trust your meeting time and trust the boys are doing their work, but they’ve been exceptional at that to be fair.
“It’s all trending in the right direction as I say but by no means are we satisfied with where we’re at.”
Ryan was clear that he felt the team still had room to improve with the ball in hand.
“I think we’re still learning a little bit around the balance of how we play of being optimistic and having a crack but then actually going ‘okay boys, when we’ve got the ball and we’re building phases we’ve just got to absolutely treat it with respect because it’s hard enough to get the ball and when you give it away you’re letting the opposition back in’.
“An example to put that in context might be when you get a penalty advantage and straight away you kick it to the wingers.
“It might be like ‘okay boys, let’s just hold the ball, we’re in the 22 here, let’s just keep attacking and we might get another penalty advantage’.
“So I think that’s something that we’re growing and we’ve still got to tidy up a few big rocks around our set-piece stuff and I’ve got no doubt we will.”
The All Blacks will head to Pretoria to face the Bulls on August 16 at 5am NZT, having notched victories against the Stormers and the Sharks.
