Detroit Teen Accused of Shooting Father, Then Fleeing to Ohio With Family SUV and Dog • Hollywood Unlocked


A Detroit teenager is in police custody after authorities say he shot his father before fleeing to Ohio in the family’s vehicle.

According to Detroit News, investigators believe the shooting stemmed from “an instance of discipline” involving the teen and his father. Officers responded to the home around 5 p.m. Tuesday after receiving reports of a disturbance. When they arrived, they found the father suffering from two gunshot wounds to his back. Authorities said the victim is expected to survive.

Teen Allegedly Fled Michigan in Family’s Rivian SUV

Following the shooting, police said the teen fled the scene in the family’s gray 2026 Rivian SUV.

Authorities said the family’s French mastiff was also inside the vehicle, along with another individual whose identity has not been released. Law enforcement agencies tracked the vehicle into Ohio, where the teen was taken into custody around 10 p.m. The family dog was also recovered.

Police said the teen is expected to be extradited back to Michigan, where he could face criminal charges in connection with the shooting.

Investigators have not released the teen’s identity because of his age, and no additional information has been provided about the other person who was in the vehicle during the arrest.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
