Sir Rod Stewart has released a statement following his latest show cancellation and revealed he has undergone heart surgery as he apologises to fans
Sir Rod Stewart has revealed he required heart surgery and has issued a health update to his followers. It comes after the legendary crooner had to cancel another concert this week for a “minor procedure”.
It has now been confirmed he underwent “a routine coronary stent procedure”. His representatives said doctors are pleased with his recovery.
Sharing the news on his Instagram account, the statement read: “Following further medical evaluation, Sir Rod Stewart has successfully undergone a routine coronary stent procedure.
“Doctors are pleased with his recovery, and Rod is doing very well and has returned to his normal daily activities. On the advice of his doctors, he will take the next four weeks to recuperate and regain full fitness before returning to the stage. Unfortunately, this means he will be unable to continue his current tour dates.
“Information regarding affected performances will be communicated by the respective promoters and venues.”
A comment by the Maggie May singer said: “I’m already feeling better and very much on the mend. I want to thank the doctors, nurses and everyone who has taken such wonderful care of me.
“I’m deeply disappointed to miss these shows and sorry to let my fans down, but I look forward to getting back on stage and having a good time with you all again soon. Rod.”
Fans were quick to comment on the announcement. One user told the veteran crooner: “You didn’t let people down! You’ve been performing for us for 50+ years. We are grateful for your talent and that your health is on the mend. Love you Rod.”
Another said: “Im so happy u are getting better [sic],” while a follower wrote: “Rest up Rod. Back on the road soon.”
On Sunday, Rod pulled out of his gig at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati. A statement released by the venue read: “Due to an unforeseen but minor medical procedure that required prompt attention, Rod Stewart’s performance tonight in Cincinnati has been postponed.
“Rescheduling is currently underway, with additional information to follow on Tuesday. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled date.
“Rod is expected to make a quick recovery and looks forward to returning to Cincinnati.”
Earlier in the summer, Rod also cancelled another performance due to health reasons. At the time, doctors diagnosed the star with an acute upper respiratory infection.
The condition later resulted in laryngitis, meaning he was unable to sing. Despite the ailment, the proud Scotsman was spotted in the stands at Boston Stadium watching Scotland secure a victory against Haiti in the World Cup 2026.
