SEOUL, Aug. 11 (UPI) — South Korea’s Paris Baguette said Tuesday the bakery brand opened its first store in Laos as part of efforts to expand its presence across Southeast Asia.
The Seoul-based company said the launch expands its presence in the region to seven countries, including Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Cambodia.
To open the store at a major commercial area in Laos’s capital city Vientiane, Paris Baguette signed a master franchise agreement in 2024 with Kolao Group, one of the country’s leading business conglomerates.
Jakkaphong Vongthaphanh, CEO of Kolao Group’s affiliate Grandview Property Sole, welcomed the launch.
“The new store will serve as a lifestyle destination offering products and services that meet global standards,” he said in a statement. “We expect Paris Baguette to establish itself as a beloved brand for both everyday occasions and special moments.”
Paris Baguette Vice Chairman Hur Jin-soo said he would keep expanding the brand’s global footprint.
“Entering Laos holds significant meaning for expanding our business network in Southeast Asia and strengthening our global growth engines,” Hur said in a statement.
“Building on Paris Baguette’s accumulated global business capabilities and the Kolao Group’s local market expertise, we will introduce an optimized business model to drive sustainable growth,” he added.
Paris Baguette operates about 730 stores in 13 overseas markets, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, China and Mongolia, in addition to the seven countries in Southeast Asia.
