Just call him the podcaster in chief
Former President Barack Obama announced this week he’s entering the podcast space, hosting his own show about one of his favorite interests — books.
“At a time when fewer people are able to sit down with a book, it’s important to remember the joy and power that can come from reading,” the former president said in an X post on Monday. “And some books don’t just tell a story – they change the way we see the world. That’s why I’m excited to share my latest podcast from [Audible] and [Higher Ground Media], A Great Book with Barack Obama.
In a subsequent post, Obama listed some of the writings that influenced him over the years — including The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin, Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison, and All the Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy — and revealed he will sit down with friends to “explore why these books resonate.”
The first episode of A Great Book will drop on September 24.
Obama joins his wife, Michelle Obama, in the podcast realm.
She has been hosting IMO With Michelle Obama with her brother, Craig Robinson, since last year.
