Dax Shepard reflected on being raised by a single mom, which included some awkward moments at the grocery store.

“I remember, dude, my mom has big b—-,” Shepard, 51, said during an appearance on his “Armchair Expert” podcast on Sunday, August 9. “My mom would occasionally wear a f—— white tank top and I just remember like, ‘Oh f— man. We’re going to the grocery store. She’s in the white tank top. There’s gonna be like weird dudes that just start talking to her.’ I hated it.”

Shepard made the revelation while interviewing Golden Globe-winning actor Taron Egerton, best known for his portrayal of Elton John in the 2019 biographical film Rocketman.

Egerton, 36, confessed to sharing a similar experience to the Without a Paddle actor, saying, “My mother is, and has always been, an attractive woman. I can remember that as a boy.”

“I can remember the feelings of rage and I can remember the feelings of inadequacy and I can remember not knowing what to do with all of that, and, probably, also wanting her to be looking at me more than them,” Egerton continued.

Shepard agreed, explaining that there can be a “blurry line between child and partner” when it comes to single parents and their kids.

“You are filling in some gaps because they don’t have anyone there to share their day with,” he continued. “You just you take on a role that is a little more complex than otherwise, I think.”

Shepard also addressed his relationship with his late father, who died after a battle with lung cancer in 2012.

“I think we were very similar more than I ever wanted to admit,” the Parks and Recreation actor explained. “I think the way we got injured and the way we protected ourselves was just like a match made in h—, for the most part.”

In contrast, Egerton said he had a “fairly functional relationship” with his father throughout his childhood.

“As I got older that became more difficult and I haven’t spoken to him for a number of years now,” the Black Bird actor recounted. “I’m reluctant to talk in too much detail about him because he’s living his own life and doing his own thing.”

Egerton added, “I’ll always love him. I do love him. I just don’t think we work very well in terms of our relationship. There was a point where I pushed the ejector seat and haven’t haven’t seen him since.”
