Blue Bloods’ Fan-Favorite Reagan Is Back In Action With Danny In Boston Spinoff

It’s another family affair in Boston Blue!

Not even a year after it wrapped up its 15-season run, its legacy lived on in the 2025-2026 TV season with the Donnie Wahlberg-led spinoff sequel. The new series has seen Frank’s son police the streets of Boston, as the life-changing move was motivated by Sean’s near-death experience. Thus far, Boston Blue has already had a few Blue Bloods cameos, which has opened the door for more familiar faces to come back for its sophomore year.

A few of the legendary Reagan clan from New York have already appeared in Boston Blue, including Erin, Henry, and Joe Hill, albeit all separately and for very different reasons. The CBS spinoff has also brought back Baez multiple times, which made sense, considering her ties to Danny. For what it’s worth, it seems like the series is keeping the pair together moving forward, despite the couple living in different cities. While it’s still uncerain if Danny’s girlfriend will be back in Boston Blue season 2, he is sure to reunite with a familiar face, as revealed in new images.

Several photos and a video from from Instagram accounts, @onlyinbos and @bostonbluefans reveal that Will Estes has joined Wahlberg in Boston for season 2 of Boston Blue. In the behind-the-scenes content, the brothers are seen walking down the streets of the city, but considering Danny wearing his badge, it’s possible that the pair is actually working a case. Interestingly, the CBS series is back in Boston to shoot, what appears to be primarily exterior scenes. Despite having the city in the title, Boston Blue is actually filmed in Toronto, Canada, for the most part. Some sequences in season 1 were also filmed in Beantown, but they were mainly establishing shots, which helped in making the series get the feel and the vibe of the northeast. It’s unclear when Boston Blue season 2 will move production north of the border.

Based from the content from the set, it seems like only Estes is coming back in Boston Blue season 2. For context, Blue Bloods ended with the revelation that Jamie and Eddie were finally pregnant after years of waiting from the viewers. Back in season 1, it was revealed that the couple already gave birth. Considering Eddie and their kid’s absence, it’s possible that Jamie’s visit to Danny may not be purely for leisurely purposes.

Boston Blue season 1 featured multiple Blue Bloods cameos, and if season 2 is following suit, it’s safe to say that there will be more guest appearances for the rest of its run after returning as part of CBS’s fall 2026 TV lineup. Estes might even come back to reprise Jamie with his growing family. That said, it goes without saying that the most anticipated Blue Bloods return for the spinoff is Tom Selleck’s Frank. The Boston Blue team has been vocal about wanting to bring him in, but it just hasn’t materialized yet.
