NorCal forecast: Looking forward to a stretch of milder temperatures

Monday will be noticeably cooler, with Valley highs falling into the mid to upper 90s.

The foothills will also cool slightly but remain warm.

Skies will be mostly sunny and an onshore breeze will pick up in the afternoon.

Temperatures will continue trending downward each day as the trough deepens off the West Coast.

Highs will return to near normal values by the middle of the week in the valley.

As the low-pressure system pushes against high pressure over the continent, it will draw more warm moisture into Northern California and storm chances will begin rising Tuesday.

Isolated storms are possible Wednesday and scattered storms expected Thursday as moisture peaks.

Sierra thunderstorm chances will decrease after Thursday but linger through Saturday.

Meanwhile in the foothills, temperatures will trend down to more comfortable values with cooler air returning overnight.

In the valley, clouds will increase and muggier conditions are expected to return by midweek.

Valley highs will settle into the upper 80s and low 90s through next weekend, and potentially into the beginning of the following week.
