Billy Amick has already made a name for himself.
The Mets prospect has continued his tear in Double-A since joining the Mets organization, hitting his fifth home run in seven games in the Rumble Ponies’ 4-3 win over the Hartford Yard Goats on Sunday.
The infielder joined the Mets organization on July 31 when he was acquired as part of the deal that sent pitcher A.J. Minter to the Twins.
His three-run blast on Sunday came in the sixth inning and broke a 1-1 tie that put the Rumble Ponies up 4-1 at the time. He also has 13 RBIs for the Rumble Ponies.
The home run hit by the man they call “Billy Barrels” went far over the wall in left field and he now has 28 home runs at the Double-A level in 2026.
“It was a fun week for sure. Everybody was getting on base and we were all having good at-bats,” Amick said while being interviewed on the field after the game. “Everything kind of came together. Ended up with six wins, so that’s all you can ask for.”
Amick was given not one but two postgame Gatorade showers in celebration of his home run.
The 23-year-old was been taken by the Twins in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft and he played for both Clemson and Tennessee in college.
He was limited to just 59 games in 2025 due to injuries.
The Rumble Ponies have won seven games in a row and will be off Monday before they start a six-game series with Portland.
