Ravneet has been on Junior Bake Off since 2021, taking over from Prue Leith, who had already been a judge on the main show for several years. Prue announced this year that she would be leaving The Great British Bake Off.
Prue has been replaced by Nigella Lawson. Nigella will partner with veteran judge Paul Hollywood when the show’s 17th series launches later this year. Responding to her appointment, she admitted being “uncharacteristically rather lost for words”.
The star said: “Of course it’s daunting to be following in the footsteps of Prue Leith and Mary Berry before her, great dames both, but I’m also bubbling with excitement.”
She continued: “The Great British Bake Off is more than a television programme, it’s a National Treasure – and it’s a huge honour to be entrusted with it.
“I’m just thrilled to be joining the team and all the new bakers to come, I wish the marvellous Prue all the best, and am giddily grateful for the opportunity!”
According to host Alison Hammond, the chemistry between Nigella and Paul is”unbelievable”. Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine on May 4, she branded it as “unbelievable”. Alison revealed: “Obviously, we’ve started [filming], so I’ve been watching. I’m telling you, the chemistry between her and Paul is unbelievable.”
She also commented on a photo of the pair that surfaced on social media. In the snap, Paul can be seen taking a selfie wearing a white shirt and black jacket, while Nigella, dressed in white, rests a hand on his shoulder.
Alison remarked: “Look, you can feel it, can’t you? Don’t they look good-looking? Look at them! Honestly, they’re so good together. Because I’ll be honest with you, they don’t always agree, and it’s so good!”
