The Washington Commanders suffered a brutal blow during practice on Saturday.
Laremy Tunsil, the five-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle who started 14 games in 2025, suffered a torn triceps during one-on-one pass-rush drills and will require surgery, according to NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo.
Tunsil is expected to miss a significant portion of the regular season, if not all of it.
Garafolo initially suggested that there wasn’t “huge panic” within the organization, though there probably should have been considering the fact that testing revealed a serious injury just hours after the veteran left practice.
The Commanders will now be left scrambling to figure out how they will successfully protect quarterback Jayden Daniels, who missed double-digit games with knee, hamstring, and elbow injuries last season. Andrew Wylie will likely be first up at left tackle, with Josh Conerly holding down right tackle alongside right guard Sam Cosmi, center Nick Allegretti, and left guard Chris Paul.
Tunsil signed a two-year, $60.2 million contract extension in March.
