“It’s never too late. I’m learning this now at 49. I used to spend evenings and days off on the couch, gaming or reading — two hobbies I genuinely love. Then, I’d get to Sunday night and wonder where the weekend went.
I realized I needed more exercise, and was pissy at first because it took from my happy home hobbies. I now go to a group gym class twice a week, pilates once a week, and MMA either two or three times a week. I take Sundays off but usually go for a walk or something. Somehow, it seems like my leisure time is longer. I know it’s not, but the extra energy that comes from the fitness, and the added variety of activities seems to create the illusion. Plus, I have social groups now, I never really had before — the MMA gang goes to hang out at a sports bar, and I’ve joined in a couple times.
And I still have time to read, game, and watch F1 and MotoGP. No, I don’t have kids. Get out there!”
