Woman Critically Injured After Police Say 7- and 4-Year-Old Boys Took Parents’ Car and Crashed Into Her • Hollywood Unlocked


A California woman is fighting for her life after police say she was struck by a vehicle allegedly taken by two young children in Oakland.

According to ABC7 News, witnesses reported seeing a white sedan speeding down 35th Avenue before it hit the woman Thursday while she was walking her dog. The victim has been identified by her family as Kiara Bowling. She was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Family Says Victim Has Undergone Multiple Surgeries

Bowling’s family says she suffered devastating injuries in the crash and is continuing to fight for her life.

According to relatives, Bowling sustained multiple facial fractures, a brain bleed, and internal bleeding. She has already undergone several surgeries since the incident. The family added that her current prognosis is unclear.

Police Say Children Took Parents’ Vehicle

Investigators with the Oakland Police Department said the vehicle involved was a Toyota allegedly taken by two boys, ages 7 and 4.

Authorities believe the children took the vehicle while their parents were asleep.

Police said the crash occurred just a few blocks from the family’s home.

After the collision, officers found both children outside the vehicle.


Dog Still Missing as Investigation Continues

Police said Bowling’s dog ran away following the crash, and it was not immediately known whether the animal had been located.

Investigators have interviewed the children’s parents, who are reportedly cooperating with the investigation.

Authorities have not announced whether any charges will be filed as detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
