Jett has not revealed how the injury happened, but the news comes after an especially busy stretch on the road. She had been touring since May and recently completed a major run of European dates, including the Blackhearts’ first U.K, tour in 16 years.

Just days before the announcement, she was still enthusiastically promoting the upcoming shows, writing on Instagram, “Stateside shows coming up Sept 5 at @oc_fair @pacificamphitheatre and Sept 24 at @bourbonandbeyond in Louisville 💥.”

The ‘Bad Reputation’ singer has been touring almost every year since she first joined a band.

The rocker has spoken openly in recent months about the physical demands of touring as she gets older.

In a June interview with The Telegraph, she admitted, “[I’ve been touring] every year of my life since I’ve been in a band. So the touring I don’t mind. It’s the traveling that’s an a—kicker, I’ll tell you. As I get older, it’s not easy to recuperate as when I was in my 20s.”

Even so, Jett emphasized that performing remains deeply meaningful to her.

Joan Jett recently admitted that touring has become harder as she gets older.

“Especially these days, [when] we need it more than ever,” she said.

“We can all finally be one for a moment, as clichéd as that sounds. But it’s true. When you can lose yourself in that moment… it’s not about thinking about what’s going to happen. You just do it. You just be it,” the “Bad Reputation” singer continued.

The “I Love Rock ‘n Roll” singer also reflected on what keeps her motivated after decades in the spotlight. “To be part of people’s interior dialogue is pretty special and a unique thing,” she previously told Far Out Magazine.

“That’s what I love most, is to be out on stage visibly seeing people enjoying themselves,” the icon added.
