“My boyfriend decided to take me out to the state park to teach me how to skateboard. We were having a blast, and I was feeling cool. When it started to rain, I suggested walking, but he said it would be faster to skate back. So we did.”
“We almost made it all the way back, but there was a menacing hill that we had to go down. I got off the board to walk it (slippery asphalt, gravel all over, and my first time skating did not make for a good time), but he stayed on his board and went too far ahead, so I got back on mine to try and catch up.
I hit a piece of gravel and went down HARD. My chin blocked most of my fall, but I ended up re-fracturing my ankle (I’d just gotten over a break), and ripping my pants to hell. He didn’t notice because he was still ahead.
I limped to the car, got in, and stared out the window, mostly in shock because of the pain. I wanted him to think I was so super cool but just ended up looking like a total geek. He never took me out skateboarding again.”
