Buzzard Fire forces home evacuations in El Tejon Pass


A wildfire is raging near Tejon Pass in Kern County as officials issue evacuation orders for the area.

The Buzzard Fire started around 8:29 a.m. Wednesday and quickly ballooned from 30 acres to 180 acres in less than two hours.

A wildfire is raging near Tejon Pass in Kern County as officials issue evacuation orders for the area.

An evacuation warning is in effect for I-5 north of Lebec Road.

“An Evacuation WARNING is in effect in the I-5 north of Lebec Road,” the Kern County Sheriff’s Office said.

“You should PREPARE to leave. The situation can change very quickly, and visibility in area may be reduced and roads can become blocked. If you require additional time to evacuate, you should leave now.”
