The White House has officially responded to Marjorie Taylor Greene and Tucker Carlson teaming up to start a new political party.
President Donald Trump’s administration on Wednesday branded the two ex-MAGA fans — as well as lame duck Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and former head of the National Counterterrorism Center Joe Kent — “whiny turncoats” for plotting their “America First” party.
White House spokesperson Davis Ingle ripped the anti-Trump quartet in a statement shared with Wired.
“President Trump created the greatest political movement in the history of politics with the MAGA movement, and he remains the unequivocal leader of the Republican Party,” he said. “The President is committed to maintaining Republican majorities in Congress and continuing to lower costs for working families. Meanwhile, this photo represents an embarrassing collection of mostly whiny turncoats who dramatically overestimate their influence and relevance.”
The response comes four days after Green posted a picture of herself, Carlson, Kent, and Massie sitting at a wooden table and enjoying chocolate chip cookies and milk. But it wasn’t just a relaxed hangout — MTG said they were plotting political revenge on Trump.
“We said no more foreign wars and we meant it and supported Donald Trump because he made that promise. But he’s betrayed us all,” Greene wrote. “Our commitment is America First for all Americans, right, left, and center.”
“The movement has begun,” Greene capped off her post.
MTG posted the pic a month after Carlson said he was working to “help build” a new third party. Carlson said it was imperative because the Republicans and Democrats are too busy worrying about foreign affairs while the lives of average Americans crumble.
His announcement followed Carlson saying in June he was done voting for Republicans; Greene made the same announcement soon after.
“How could I or any American voter support a political party that’s not loyal to the United States. That puts the interests of a foreign country above those of its own citizens,” Carlson said. “It’s not possible to vote for people like that, and I’m not going to.”
Carlson was referring to Israel, a country he has been fixated on. He said Trump’s 2024 campaign was funded largely by people with “loyalty to Israel,” which is now forcing the president to make decisions not in the best interest of the USA. Carlson, once one of Trump’s biggest backers, remains a supporter of Vice President JD Vance, whom he’s long had a close relationship with and lobbied Trump to put on the ticket.
Trump has scoffed at those kinds of claims, saying in March about the Iran war, “If anything, I might’ve forced Israel’s hand.”
And despite working on the new party, MTG appears to have a bit of time for other projects. Greene announced on Tuesday she was joining Cameo, where she is available to create personalized “business videos” for a minimum of $5,000.
