The Powerball jackpot has swelled to become one of the top ten largest lottery prizes in the history of the game — with the next winner set to scoop more than three-quarters of a billion dollars.
Wednesday’s jackpot is estimated at $786 million, with a cash value of $341.6 million, WABC reported.
It is the largest Powerball jackpot this year, and the biggest since last December’s mammoth $1.817 billion prize.
The winning ticket, scooped by Tracy Hartwick of Cabot, Ark., on Christmas Eve 2025, remains the second-largest jackpot ever won in the history of the game.
No players had all of the winning numbers for Monday’s drawing, but a $2 million ticket was bought in Wisconsin.
Monday’s numbers were: 41-54-48-30-8, and the Powerball was 4.
The Powerball jackpot was last won on May 2, 2026, when two tickets in Florida and Texas both split a $20 million jackpot.
The biggest-ever Powerball jackpot, $2.04 billion, was won by controversial California ticketholder Edwin Castro on Nov. 7, 2022.
The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are just 1 in 292.2 million, but US lottery officials say the expanded player base allows prizes to grow more quickly, likely increasing sales to players drawn by the larger prizes.
Powerball tickets cost $2 and are available in 45 US states as well as Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands and Washington, DC.
Players select five white-ball numbers from 1 to 69, and one red Powerball number from 1 to 26, with drawings held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
Mega Millions drawings are held on Tuesdays and Fridays.
