Clarkson’s Farm’s Harriet Cowan now from quitting job to ‘feeling bad’ about fame

Harriet Cowan has opened up about how her stint on Clarkson’s Farm changed her life.

Harriet Cowan continues to be a Clarkson’s Farm favourite after her season 5 cameo, but she has had to give up a lot.

Clarkson’s Farm fans are eagerly awaiting season six of Jeremy Clarkson’s hit Prime Video series, following season five’s emotional rollercoaster.

There are many fan-favourites on the show, including farmer Harriet Cowan, who put Clarkson in his place when she first joined the series in season four.

She returned for a brief stint in the latest outing, which was a pleasant surprise for fans of the 25-year-old from Derbyshire.

Clarkson himself had nothing but kind words to say about his young co-star, he previously told The Sun: “I loved Harriet to bits and I wish her all the very best. She was fantastic to have around.

“But the truth is, we’ve got Kaleb, and he might go off and do Celebrity Love Island or something, and if I can’t manage, I’ll call Harriet in a heartbeat.” Here is all you need to know about where the star is now.

Harriet Cowan quit her nursing job

Following her initial appearance on Clarkson’s Farm, Cowan found overnight fame and saw her social media follower count skyrocket.

Before the show, she had worked full-time as a nurse in Derbyshire, visiting patients at their homes.

In an interview earlier in 2026 with Hello!, she said she had to give up her nursing career as she did not want to turn down life-changing opportunities.

She said: “I was being recognised by patients, and you’ve got to be professional [as a] nurse. You could be [at someone’s house] for a really serious reason, and someone says ‘I saw you on the telly’, making it hard to be professional.

“I was starting to get deals coming in. I couldn’t take any more annual leave and I was turning down crazy, big opportunities. I was like, this isn’t working anymore.”

Harriet Cowan on ‘feeling bad’ about fame

Speaking on the Fed By Farmers podcast, Cowan opened up about how her overnight fame felt “insane”.

She admitted: “I turned my phone off for three days when it came out. I think I had, like, 8k on Instagram to 500,000 overnight. And TikTok I’d had, like, 40k and that went to 800,000 overnight.

“It was just insane, and I just feel bad for my friends more than anything, because I want to just be that girl in Young Farmers that nobody knows and I’m never that, I’m never going to be that again.”

On how she started her social media phenomenon, she said: “I would nurse in the day, I was in the community, and I did a lot of country areas and looked after people in their homes.

“One of my friends from Young Farmers, he was at this farm and it was summer, I had pulled into the drive to look after the bloke who owned the farm and I saw my friend.

“He was like, ‘We are really rushed off our feet’.” Her friend later asked her to do some contracting for his grandad, and she would film social videos about tractors, which “just blew up”.

Harriet Cowan has written a book

The young star has written a book, Life on the Farm, which is hitting shelves on September 10.

Taking to Instagram to share the news, she said: “This is such a personal project for me. Inside, I share what the farming way of life truly means, the values I live by, and of course what a typical day on the farm really looks like.

“I also wanted to open up about the challenges and realities Britain’s farmers are facing today, and why buying local isn’t just a slogan – it’s a way of life.

“Farming has been passed down from my grandparents to my parents, and now to me. It’s so much more than putting food on the table – it’s community, love, resilience, and hard work every single day. I can’t wait to share my story with you all.”
